Kugoo Kirin M4 –Unboxing and Assembly
The unboxing experience is great. The scooter comes in a fairly compact box for an electric scooter with a seat; everything is safely packed inside the box. We have the scooter, charger, tool kit, seat set, and user manual in the box.
There is not much to do with the assembly, but you have to tighten many things like headlight, brakes, handlebar, tires etc. No extra tolls are required for assembling because every tool is there in the box. Lastly, attach the seat, and you are good to go. Attaching the seat is entirely a personal preference, but I really like to have it on.
Kugoo Kirin M4 – Design and Construction
Let’s talk about the design and construction. For me, the Kirin M4 is a piece of art; it is stunning and solid. Kugoo’s engineer has put quite an effort into making this scooter robust, reliable and beautiful.
M4 is featuring an aesthetic and ergonomic design with solid construction. It has an adjustable handle and seat so that you can ride it easily in both sitting and standing position. The folding mechanism is exceptional; unlike others like the Mi scooter, it will not wear and tear easily because it does not affect the scooter’s structure. Moreover, we have RGB LEDs underneath the deck.
The body has robust aluminium construction, which appears to be quite dependable. We don’t see any flex in the handlebar and deck when we put extra weight on them, and 10-inch pneumatic tires can stand a lot of bumps and jumps.

Kugoo Kirin M4 – Features
Kugoo Kirin M4 is an impressive electric scooter; the scooter is packed with features like incredible speed and range, suspensions and much more.
Let’s start the features from the top; the handlebar. It is highly functional and controls almost everything. The packed handlebar is holding the front and back brake levers. Then we have the incredible screen, which shows a massive amount of data and very well visible in the daylight. Right below the screen, we have the voltage meter and keyhole. The voltage meter keeps you aware of the remaining battery, and keyhole is for the key, obviously. That’s all for the right side.
On the left side, we have two buttons and a switch. The first red button is for the headlight, switch is for the left and right indicator, and the last green button is the horn.
After the handlebar, we have a wide anti-slip board. The board is painted black with red stripes to complement. Under the deck, we have LEDs with left and right indicator on the back of the board.
Lastly, we will talk about the brakes and pneumatic tires. Kirin M4 has a triple braking system, two disk brakes on the front and rear tires with an electric brake to stop the motor. 10-inch pneumatic tires are incredibly comfortable and sturdy, they have a good grip on wet surface and performs well in off-road situation.
Kugoo Kirin M4 – Battery
Kirin M4 has a big 528Wh which can easily compete against the bigger 551Wh Ninebot max battery. The battery delivers an incredible 45km range in optimal condition. Well, realistically the range is around 30km.
The charging time is 5 hours, which is not that bad considering the size of the battery.
Motor
M4 is using a 500W motor encased by the rear wheel. The decent motor has respectable acceleration with a maximum speed of 43km/h. The speed may look extravagant, but it is achievable; in our test, we were able to hit 41km/h, which is quite good for a mid-range scooter. Power loss is minimal on steep inclines and off-roading.
The scooter starts to lose power after 50% battery which is usual for an electric scooter but still annoying.
Kugoo Kirin M4 – Performance
Range
According to Kugoo, the range 45km when a 55kg person is riding on a flat surface and applies the brake only thrice. This is very hard to achieve because we use the brakes frequently in the city. So, the actual range is 30km which is still respectable.
Ride Comfort
Ride comfort is another strong factor of Kirin M4. It has dual front suspensions with pneumatic tires. The combined comfort is incredible. The handle has soft and textured handle grips.
Padded seat is very soft and doesn’t cause pain in the butt on long rides. Moreover, the board is vast, and you can properly fit your both feet on it.
Speed
Kugoo Kirin M4 is delivering the speed at an incredible acceleration. The maximum mentioned speed is 43km/h, while we achieved 41km/h, which is excellent. With a 70kg person, the scooter can deliver 43km/h efficiently.
Brakes
Kugoo has put a great effort into brakes. The scooter has three brakes; two-disc brakes on both tires and an electric brake for the motor. Braking performance is exceptional; it is better than the Mi electric scooter and Segway ninebot max.
Safety
Kirin M4 is as safe as it can get for a night ride. It has indicators, front and taillights and under the deck RGB lighting. The board is textured for perfect grip.
Portability
Portability depends upon two factors weight and foldable dimensions. The weight is 23kg which is not light, while the foldable dimensions are pretty compact. Moreover, you can also pull the scooter on the rear tire when folded.
Drawbacks
There is nothing bad in Kirin M4; it is one of the best scooters we have ever tested. But Kugoo can still make it more efficient and friendly by adding these elements
- No KERS.
- Indicator is less visible in daylight.
- No, Cruise control.
- Smartphone App
Final Words
Kirin M4 is an incredible electric scooter for 650$. It has all the good things to rank in the top 10 on our list of electric scooters. Kugoo Kirin M4 is now my daily driver due to its comfortable suspensions and tires, excellent speed and range, safety lights and braking system.
